The reverse direction follows the same path: Nhava Sheva to Duqm by sea, then Duqm to the UAE by road.

Why route cargo through Duqm?

  • Alternative routing. An extra option where a direct Gulf-port sailing is not the best fit. We compare the options for you. For the current situation at the UAE's main port, see our Jebel Ali port congestion update.
  • One partner, every leg. Road, port and sea under one booking, with no gaps between carriers.
  • Customs handled. Documents and clearance coordinated at the UAE border, in Oman and at Nhava Sheva.

How the journey works

  1. Pick-up in the UAE. Collection from your warehouse, factory or supplier, with export documents prepared.
  2. Road to Duqm. Trucking across the UAE–Oman border to the Port of Duqm, with transit formalities managed through our cross-border transport team.
  3. Port handling at Duqm. Cargo is received, stuffed or consolidated where needed, and loaded for the sea leg.
  4. Sea to Nhava Sheva. Ocean transport from Duqm to JNPT, tracked by our operations team.
  5. Clearance and delivery. Customs clearance at Nhava Sheva and release for onward delivery.

Cargo we move on this route

  • Containerised cargo: FCL and LCL shipments between the UAE and India, with full container handling at Duqm.
  • Palletised and general cargo: part-load and full-truck road movement to Duqm, consolidated for the sea leg.
  • Project and oversized cargo: route planning, permits and handling for heavy or out-of-gauge shipments, on request.

Customs clearance and documentation

Three countries mean three sets of formalities. We coordinate them as one process so your cargo does not stall between legs. We help with:

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Certificate of origin
  • UAE export and Oman transit and import declarations
  • Bill of lading for the sea leg
  • Indian import documentation for Nhava Sheva
  • Permits for restricted goods where required

Not sure what your cargo needs? Send us the product details and HS code, and we will advise on documents and duties for each country before the cargo moves. Our customs clearance team manages the UAE side.

Shipping from India to the UAE

The route works just as well in reverse. We receive your cargo at Nhava Sheva, ship it to Duqm and truck it on to your destination in the UAE, with customs coordinated at every stage.

Why JW Marine & Freight

  • Complete route control: we manage the road, port and sea legs, so one party is accountable.
  • Transparent quotes: one end-to-end quotation with each leg broken down.
  • An experienced team that knows the UAE, Oman and India lanes.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Common questions.

Why ship via Duqm instead of a direct UAE port to Nhava Sheva?

Duqm sits on Oman's Arabian Sea coast, outside the Strait of Hormuz. For some cargo and schedules, combining a road leg to Duqm with a sea leg to India gives an alternative routing option. We compare the options for your cargo and quote the one that fits.

Does JW Marine & Freight handle the whole route?

Yes. We coordinate the UAE pick-up, road transport to Duqm, border and customs formalities, port handling and loading at Duqm, the sea leg to Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and customs clearance at destination, under one booking and one point of contact.

Can you also ship from India to the UAE via Duqm?

Yes. The route works in both directions: Nhava Sheva to Duqm by sea, then Duqm to the UAE by road, with customs handled at each stage.

What types of cargo can move on this route?

Containerised cargo (FCL and LCL), palletised and general cargo, and project or oversized cargo on request. Hazardous, restricted or temperature-sensitive goods need prior approval, so please contact us before booking.

How long does the UAE to Nhava Sheva journey via Duqm take?

Total time depends on the road leg, border and customs processing, the sailing schedule from Duqm and destination clearance. We give an estimated end-to-end schedule with every quotation and update you as the cargo moves.

What documents are required?

Typically a commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, plus export, transit and import declarations for each country and any product-specific permits. Our team confirms exactly what your cargo needs before dispatch.
