History
HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine) is South Korea’s flagship container carrier, founded in 1976 and headquartered in Seoul. As of 2025, HMM operates a fleet with capacity approaching 1 million TEUs, with over 80% of its fleet made up of ultra-large (10,000+ TEU) container ships. The company recently took delivery of its 11th 13,000 TEU-class vessel, with a 12th on order, and has a strong presence on Asia–US routes.
